I.U.P.A. Local 6020 Executive Committee:  The I.U.P.A. Local 6020, recently had a vacancy for the Secretary-Treasurer position. Greg LaCerra, will be filling the Secretary-Treasurer position for the remainder of this term and will vacate his position if Jeff Bell is reinstated prior to this current terms expiration. Jeff Bell currently has a preliminary injunction hearing set for May 13th, before a federal judge. Below are the current Executive Committee members.

President: Jason Zehler (email: jzehler@iupa.org)

Vice President: Matt Cowart (email: mcowart@iupa.org)

Secretary-Treasurer: Greg LaCerra (email: glacerra@iupa.org)

Professional Standards Committee: Only the sitting Union (I.U.P.A.) may represent you at these hearings and argue your case for dismissal or a reduction in recommended discipline.  No other Union is allowed to attend on behalf of a DLE Deputy or Sergeant.

Grievances: Only the labor organization certified by Florida’s Public Employees Relations Commission to represent all BSO law enforcement deputies and sergeants, I.U.P.A., can file a grievance against the Sheriff’s Office on behalf of a member of the collective bargaining unit.  No other union can file a grievance.

Congratulations to the Hollywood Police Department on Leaving the PBA: An election was held and the Hollywood PD has officially voted to leave the Broward PBA as their representing union. Only 6% of the voters had confidence in “the new PBA” to continue to represent them. As a results of the Broward PBA’s failed leadership, the Hollywood PD will now join the BSO deputies, sergeants, and lieutenants, Hallandale PD, and Miramar PD to have all left the Broward County PBA for better leadership and representation.

Sincerely,

I.U.P.A. Local 6020
